Jason Tapp as "Johnny Cash"

At the age of 28 he recently appeared as the late great Johnny Cash on television one’s Stars in Their Eyes programme, but there is much more to tell about Jason Tapp.

Jason’s first had a shot at television when he tried out for New Zealand Idol in 2005 where he performed Pearl Jam’s hit song Last Kiss.

Between trying out for Idol & appearing in Stars in Their Eyes Jason has managed to survive fourth stage cancer.

In January 2007 he underwent surgery to remove one of his kidneys, then went on to chemotherapy and radiation therapy as the cancer had spread to one of his lungs.

A Survivor….

Surviving cancer has spurred Jason on to write a song called The Man Check, a humorous take on the serious subject of prostate cancer and the need for all men to be checked.

He has been approached by the cancer foundation to record the song for use in advertising campaigns and information evenings.

Jason has now been approached to do some shows by the winner of the 9^th episode of Stars in Their Eyes, Tony Wellington who impersonated Roy Orbison.

The first show was held at the Mount Maunganui RSA on the 6^th of September followed by the Hamilton Workingmans club on boxing day 2008.
