Colin Jones as "Joe Cocker"
Colin was born in East London, England. His first influence
was his mother, who was a fine singer in her own right and
loved Billie Holiday and early blues and show tunes.
After learning the rudiments of drumming in the Sea Cadets
as a lad, by 1970 Col found himself in some good young
bands, playing (as he puts it) “all kinds of psychedelic
rubbish”.
In 1973, Col teamed up with a soul band, The Strutters (very
popular with the London pub rock audiences), handling both
drums and vocals.
After playing in numerous bands, Colin met Micky Jupp (an
important figure in the British rock scene). Col played
drums for Micky on and off for about 3 years, and ended up
touring and supporting some very good bands.
